Wigton's new gallery will be opening its doors until 9.00pm next Thursday, and every Thusrday night until Christmas.

The Fountain Gallery is an unusual enterprise: it is run, financed and staffed by a cooperative of 17 artists and crafts people. Most galleries charge a hefty commission on sales- very understandably, to cover their costs- but in this cooperative, all sales revenue goes direct to the artist. The public can expect to pay considerably less therefore than they would in a conventionally run gallery. For example, an item which costs £100 in the Fountain Gallery would cost at least £150 almost anywhere else!
